PINE GROVE — A chamberlain is someone who manages a household of a monarch or member of nobility.

Connie Chamberlin is someone who manages the difficulties of a golf course so well that it would make nobility take notice.

Chamberlin racked up two event wins last week at the weekly Ladies Nine Hole Golf Association League of the Ironton Country Club.

After the day’s golfing events, hostess Georgia Willis announced the winners.

Besides Chamberlin, other winners among the five events were Joyce Lewis, Dora Carmon and Margaret Donley.

The Ladies Nine Hole Golf Association meets at 9 a.m. each Tuesday for a brief business meeting that features breakfast treats.

Golfing events start at 9:30 followed by the announcement of the daily winners during the group’s lunch.

The weekly Couples’ Night is held on Friday evenings and couples are asked to bring an appetizer.

Members are reminded that the Ringer and Handicap tournaments are continuing.

New members are always welcomed.

This Tuesday’s hostess is Joyce Lewis.

The early start for golfing events helps members avoid the mid-afternoon heat.
