Two arrested on drug charges in traffic stop

CHESAPEAKE — Two men were arrested on drug charges, following a traffic stop in Chesapeake last Sunday.

Robert Vickers, of St Albans, West Virginia, was charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs, improper handling of a firearm and improper handling of weapons while intoxicated.

Antwan Sherrod, of Columbus, was charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs. He is currently out on bond for drug charges in Huntington.

Police said officer Aaron Christian conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation on Third Avenue and an OVI investigation began and field sobriety tests were given. A subsequent breath test was administered with a result of .109, police said.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and police said a loaded firearm was located between the seat and console of the vehicle. A bulk amount of Xanax and approximately $3,300 in cash was located, police chief Lenny Abrams said.

The vehicle was impounded and is subject to criminal forfeiture.
