Local golf teams play well at Ridgley Tourney

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — All teams played well. Some just played better.

While all 13 teams played well, the Cabell Midland Knights had the best day overall as they won the Duke Ridgley Tournament on Friday at the Guyan Golf and Country Club.

Midland had a 220 team scored followed by Spring Valley with a 244 and Parkersburg was third at 246.

Huntington St. Joseph was fourth at 249, Gallipolis had a 256, Huntington 263, Wayne 266, Midland B-team 268, Huntington St. Joseph B-team 271, Midland C-team 277, the Ironton Fighting Tigers 288, the Chesapeake Panthers 291 and the Fairland Dragons 303.

Ironton was led by Chandler Dodson with an 89 over the Par 71 course. Mitchell Weisgarber had a 93 while Trevor Hacker and Mason Slagel each carded a 106.

Chesapeake was led by Derek Lemley with a 76 to earn all-tournament team honors. Justin Black had a 99, Brandon Blair 116 and Alaina Collins 128.

Reece Belville shot a 95 to lead Fairland. Cameron Sheppard had a 99, Dylan Raines 109 and Mason Manns 118.

Ironton will host Coal Grove, Fairland and Rock Hill in a match at 4 p.m. on Monday at the Ironton Country Club.
