Dinner salutes local farmers

In many instances, unfortunately we don’t know where exactly our food is from when we sit down for a meal. Sure, you could look on the package and see that it was packaged at a warehouse somewhere, but to know the origin of the farm the food came from may be a mystery.

That won’t be the case next Saturday when Ironton aLive hosts its inaugural Farm to Table event at the Oak Ridge House on South Eighth Street in Ironton. This is a wonderful way for residents to enjoy a bounty with locally grown products by Lawrence County farmers.

Not only will eventgoers enjoy a good meal and fellowship with other residents, this allows us to support our local farms that work tirelessly each day to remain a valuable asset to Lawrence County.

Additionally, the Farm to Table dinner is part of the Lawrence County Bicentennial events happening throughout the remainder of this year. Those who attend the dinner will receive a commemorative plate to take home.

We encourage all those who can to take part in making the first Farm to Table a success, and we applaud those who have worked to put the dinner on to highlight our local food resources and continue to make a difference in our community.
