Faith & Fitness fall hoops

The Faith and Fitness Middle School Fall Basketball League will begin in September at the First Baptist Church in Ironton.

Monday night from 6-8 p.m. will be grades 7 and 8 on Sept. 12, 19 and 26 and Oct. 3. Tuesday night from 6-8 p.m. will be grades 5 and 6 on Sept. 13, 20, 27 and Oct. 4.

The four-week season will have one game per week with a championship tournament. T-shirts and awards will be given.

Fee is $45 payable to: Faith and Fitness/First Baptist Church

This is an individual-only registration. No teams will be accepted. There is a 40 player limit.

Youths should pre-register by Thursday, Sept. 8. Late fee is $50. Forms are available at the church or contact Chris Barnes at (614) 404-5825 or the church at (740) 532-1240.

 

 

 

Basketball officiating

class to begin Sept. 28

The Ironton and Portsmouth chapters of the Southeastern Ohio Basketball Officials Association are offering a class for beginning officials.

The class is a requirement for all new officials who wish to referee Ohio High School Athletic Association sanctioned games in grades 7-12. The class will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 28, and last approximately eight weeks. There will be 25 classroom hours and numerous scrimmages to work.

Oak Hill to sponsor

men’s softball tourney

The Oak Hill Oaks’ baseball team will sponsor a men’s 18-and-older double elimination softball tournament Friday and Saturday, Oct. 1-2, at Oak Hill High School.

Fee is $160 per team. Tournament is open to the first eight teams to register. Awards given to first- and second-place teams.

Proceeds benefit the Oak Hill baseball team.

Ironton season football tickets now on sale

Ironton Fighting Tigers’ season football tickets are now on sale for the 2016 season.

Ironton features five home games including four Ohio Valley Conference games. All games begin at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $37 per seat and checks should be made payable to the I.H.S. Athletic Department.

Fans should include a self-addressed stamped envelope. If a large amount of tickets are ordered, please apply extra postage. The postage should cover the weight of the order.

Fans should make sure to add a phone number with their order.

CKCC hosting youth

The Ceredo-Kenova Community Center Volleyball League will conduct a fall league for any girls living in the Tri-State entering grades 1-6.

Fee is $40 per child and $35 for each additional sibling.
