Davey Dunfee

Feb. 21, 1934 –– Sept. 4, 2016

Davey L. Dunfee, 82, of South Point, formerly of Willow Wood, surrounded by his family, slipped away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, to join his Heavenly Father, family and friends who passed on before him. He was born Feb. 21, 1934, to Leo and Olive Thompson Dunfee, of Willow Wood.

He was a well-known educator in Lawrence County. He was a former principal, baseball and basketball coach and guidance counselor at Symmes Valley High School, where he retired in 1978. He was a part owner of the Dunfee-Hesson Insurance Agency in Proctorville. He was a car salesman at Chesapeake Ford and Auto Sales for 21 years after he retired from the school. He was a member of the Greasy Ridge Church of Christ and served as an elder.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Leland Dunfee and Olive Thompson Dunfee; his brother, Leland “Bud” Dunfee and his wife, Colleen; his in-laws, Andrew and Eileen Corn; brothers and sisters-in-law, Farrell and Nancy Hesson, Jerry Corn, Danny Corn and Thomas Michael Corn.

Dave is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ina Lee “Sis” Corn Dunfee; son, Davey L. Dunfee Jr.; daughter, Andrea Lefingwell and son-in-law, Dee, all of South Point; 11 grandchildren, Mika Ross, Aleshia Napier, Jillian Moore (Travis), Kyle Dunfee (Tessa), Andrew Dunfee (Stacy), Jenna Dunfee and their mother, Kim, Jesse Leffingwell, Jessica Scott and Travis Leffingwell; 10 great-grandchildren, Britany Pike (Brad), Tifany Myers, Jacob Napier, Amelia Napier, Carter Moore, Brynn Moore, Matthew David Dunfee, Emma and Ella Winkler and Jase Scott; one great-great-grandson, Owen Pike; in-laws, Rick Corn (Kim), Carl and Ruth Galloway and Peggy Corn; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews; and so many special friends.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the Abbot Home Health Care staff, St. Mary’s Hospital staff and HIMG physicians, Dr. T. Dannals, Dr. Donohue, Dr. Joseph and Dr. Collins.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Greasy Ridge Church of Christ by Minister Barry Kelley with a visitation an hour before. Burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery, Chesapeake. Visitation will also be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to Greasy Ridge Church of Christ or Shriners Children’s Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky, in honor of Dave. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

 

Charles Campbell

Charles Kenneth Campbell, 71, of Pedro, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Kochenower Campbell. There will not be any services scheduled and Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Timothy Willis

Timothy Willis, 47, of Columbus, formerly of Coal Grove, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at his home in Columbus. Funeral services will be conducted 4 p.m. Saturday in the Brown Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Billy Markins officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the chapel.
