Ironton golfers down Pointers

LAVALETTE, W.Va. — The Ironton Fighting Tigers’ golf team is finding consistency. And as a result, they’re finding some wins.

Ironton posted another team score in the 180s as they won a dual match with the South Point Pointers on Wednesday at Sugarwood Golf Course.

Ironton had a 183 team score led by Mitchell Weisgarber who took medalist honors with a 44.

Chandler Dodson was just one stroke behind Weisgarber with a 45 and Mason Slagel was nipping at his heels with a 46. James Carter was next with a 48.

Trevor Hacker shot a 52 and Drew Williams a 60 for Ironton.

Beau Taylor carded a 48 to pace South Point. Ryan Fetty had a 51, Hannah Hall 65, Mackenzie Evans-Schweickart 66 and Wyatt Thacker had a 72.

Ironton will play Portsmouth on Monday at the Portsmouth Elks Country Club.
