Talulah Morris

July 22, 1953 — Sept. 8, 2016

Talulah J. Morris, 63, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. The Mansfield native was born July 22, 1953, the daughter of the late James A. and Weda Mae Feagin Jones. She is survived by her husband, Kelvin Morris, whom she married on April 7, 1979.

Mrs. Morris was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother who enjoyed cooking and taking care of her children and grandchildren. She was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Maddox Memorial Church in Mansfield.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Gwendolyn Bradley.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Maurice (Sara) Jones, of Chula Vista, California, and Christopher Monteze Jones, of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Chris Jones Jr., of Mansfield, Donavan Ruckman, of Ontario, Ohio, Keshawn R. Jones, Kaylee R. Jones, Chalicia M. Jones, Maurice C. Jones and Christopher M. Jones, all of Mansfield; and five sisters, Patricia King, Bonita Jones-Thomas, Lillian (Charles) Holmes, Renee (John) Brooks and Cynthia Jones, all of Mansfield.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Carter officiating. Jerry Moore

Dec. 4, 1935 — Sept. 10, 2016

Jerry L. Moore, 80, of South Point, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with minister Jerry Greenslait and pastor Paul Michael Booth officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point.

Jerry was born Dec. 4, 1935, in South Point, a son of the late Leonard and Margaret Hammond Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Derek Clark and Matthew Bailey; three brothers; and three sisters.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany. He retired from AK Steel as a rigger and was a member of South Point Christian Church.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Glenda Ann Craft Moore; his children, Gary Moore, of Orlando, Florida, Angela (Mike) Clark, of South Point, and Lisa (Denny) Bailey, of Orlando, Florida; one sister, Rita G. Smith, of South Point; five grandchildren, Kelli Lopez, Brittany Moore, Cassandra Moore, Samantha Ayers and Zachary Clark; and five great-grandsons.

Gladys Davidson

Aug. 29, 1913 — Sept. 10, 2016

Gladys Gibbs Davidson, 103, of South Point, went home to be with the Lord Sept. 10, 2016. She was born to the late RZ and Lilly Gibbs on Aug. 29, 1913, in Paintsville, Kentucky.

Gladys was a pillar of the community and a warrior for God. She dedicated herself to her children, grandchildren and church. At the age of 10, Gladys and her three siblings were orphaned, leaving them to be raised by their blind grandmother. At age 15, she married the Rev. Orville Davidson. Together, they built up the Kingdom of God by preaching and teaching the good news of Jesus Christ.

Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, grandmother and husband; two sons, James Cecil Davidson and Donald Lee Davidson; one daughter-in-law, Violet Bear Davidson; one sister, Beaulah Davidson; and two brothers, Estell Gibbs and Milton Gibbs.

Gladys is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Ginny Davidson, of Willisburg, Kentucky; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at noon, Wednesday at Schneider Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.schneidergriffin.com.

 

Charles Hay

March 6, 1956 — Sept. 8, 2016

Charles Dennis Hay, 60, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at Community Hospice Care Center. He was the son of the late Clayton and Garnet Robinson Hay, born March 6, 1956, in Ironton. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Sturgill Hay; two sons, Charles Dennis Hay Jr. and Michael David Hay; and two grandchildren, Michael David Hay Jr. and Emma Lou Hay. O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home is assisting the family and a private committal service will be held at the convenience of the family.

 

Harold Shafer

Harold Bucky Shafer, 69, of Willow Wood, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at home. He is survived by his wife, Janet Shaffer. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Perkins Ridge Cemetery, Willow Wood. Janie Robinson

Janie Robinson, 75, of Huntington, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Haverhill Cemetery, Haverhill.
