Ironton attorney to be honored for 50 years in practice

COLUMBUS — The president of the Ohio State Bar Association will visit Waverly on Tuesday, Sept. 20, to speak to area attorneys about current issues facing the legal profession and to honor members of the profession.

Ronald S. Kopp, 2016-2017 OSBA president, will address the annual luncheon meeting of OSBA District 8 at Lake White Club, 1166 State Route 552, Waverly. OSBA District 8 includes 309 members who practice in Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton counties.

Attorneys who will be recognized for 50 years in practice include Craig A. Allen, of Ironton, Richard L. Gerhardt, of Circleville, and Circleville attorney Stephen S. Gussler.

Rose Kathleen Vargo-McFarland of Circleville will receive the Ohio State Bar Foundation Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under.

Judge Howard H. Harcha III, District 8 representative on the OSBA Board of Governors, will preside over the meeting, which will include the election of one member to the OSBA Council of Delegates. OSBA members are welcome to attend the business meeting at no charge.

As part of the luncheon program, a one-hour continuing legal education (CLE) bonus seminar about the future of the legal profession will be offered. Beginning at 1:30 p.m., an optional 2 1/2-hour continuing legal education (CLE) professional conduct seminar will be offered.
