SCIOTOVILLE — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings were winning despite losing.

The Lady Vikings lost Caitlyn Crabtree and Taylor Webb — their top hitters — with injuries for an undetermined time. But the Lady Vikings overcame the injuries to sweep the Sciotoville East Lady Tartans in straight sets in a Southern Ohio Conference volleyball game.

“We’re having to use some underclassmen so we had to make some adjustments,” said Lady Vikings coach Kristin Klaiber.

Symmes Valley won 25-12, 25-8 and 25-5.

Makayla Herrell had 17 points including seven aces. Sierra Ross scored 11 points that featured eight aces.

Kinley Patterson had four kills and Herrell three kills.

Symmes Valley hosts Coal Grove at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
