Vina Wright

May 24, 1941 — Sept. 13, 2016

Vina Louise Wright, 75, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Ironton native was born May 24, 1941, a daughter of the late Emory and Garnet Bowman Fields. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Baxter Wright, who passed away Dec. 10, 1993.

Mrs. Wright was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and a self-employed beautician for 30 years, retiring in 2011. She was a member of Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed going to the mall shopping at her favorite stores.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Frankie Wright; a granddaughter, Kayla Wright; two brothers, Gene Fields and Jack Fields; and a sister-in-law, Tak Fields.

She is survived by a son, John F. Wright, of Ironton; a daughter, Ruth Ann (Rick) Farmer, of Ironton; three grandchildren, Brittany Thompson (Mikkael Ison), of Ironton, and Alexis (Jason Howard) Wright and Jonathan Wright, all of Proctorville; a great-granddaughter, Aubree Ison, of Ironton; a brother, Lawrence (Brenda) Fields, of Kitts Hill; a sister-in-law, Joyce Fields; like a daughter, Rachel Williamson; and many nieces, nephews and great friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery and visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
