Continue to raise awareness

In the next couple of weeks, we will begin to see pink ribbons and a myriad of events throughout the month of October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

This includes many organizations and sports teams that will show support and raise awareness with ribbons, socks, jerseys and sweatbands.

In many cases, these events are not only to continue to raise awareness, but also to remember those friends and family members who have faced a battle with breast cancer.

While the height of these efforts is during the month of October, we must remember and continue them all year long.

Continuing to bring education and research for what is considered one of the leading forms of cancer is crucial to ensure we as a society are able to effectively win these battles.

We applaud all of those who work tirelessly to host these events along with those who fight this disease each day.

While the fight can seem like a boxing match between the individual and the cancer, we are encouraged to see that communities come together to lend their support and help.

In years past, Ohio has being among the top states in the nation in new cases of breast cancer, so we must continue to fight together.
