WILLOW WOOD — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings have circled the wagons.

Despite missing starters Caitlyn Crabtree and Taylor Webb with injuries, the Lady Vikings rallied together and beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets in a non-league volleyball game on Monday, 25-21, 25-16 and 25-22.

“We’re trying a few different things and so far it is working,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Kristin Klaiber.

Kinley Patterson had nine points with one ace, 10 kills and five digs to lead the Lady Vikings.

Sierra Ross had eight points with four aces. Erica and Sierra Ross each had seven assists.

Makayla Herrell and Morgan Jenkins both scored six points with Jenkins getting two aces.

Symmes Valley hosts Portsmouth Clay on Tuesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

The Lady Vikings hosts St. Joseph at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in a varsity-only game and visit Green in a varsity-only match on Thursday.
