Lawrence Derifield

Dec. 18, 1936 — Sept. 18, 2016

Lawrence K. Derifield, 79, of Sebastian, Florida, formerly of Ironton, died on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at Mary’s Hospital Huntington, West Virginia. He was the husband of Anna Walsh Derifield. He was born Dec. 18, 1936, the son of the late George and Gladys Kelly Derifield.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and of Baptist faith. He was an educator in this county at Dawson-Bryant, Ironton and superintendent at South Point District.

He was preceded by one sister, Gail Russell. In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Kelly (Dan) Fields; one son, George (Doris) Derifield; grandchildren include Joshua (Desire) Fields; and great-grand children, Mairead and Layla Fields; two sisters, Phyllis (Allen) Moore and Shirley Bowling; one special brother-in-law, Carl Russell.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday with Wayne Wise officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. prior to services at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home burial in Ice Creek Cemetery. VFW 2761 will perform military graveside services.

 

Sharon Maynard

Sharon L. Maynard, 70, of Chesapeake, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, by pastor Jimmy Perry and pastor Luke Richmond. Burial will follow in Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova, West Virginia. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Bernice Whitrock

Bernice Lee Whitrock, 88, of Proctorville, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at home. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, by pastor Harold Hamlin. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Eda Hord

Eda Hord, 82, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at home. She is survived by her husband, William Hord. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

 

Francis McKee

Francis A. McKee, 85 of Ironton, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at the Cornerstone Hospital, a division of St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Chapel.
