The St. Joseph Flyers were making all the right moves.
The Flyers showed great movement as they beat the West Carter Comets 3-1 on Thursday in a soccer game.
“I thought we came out strong, playing well and scoring three goals in the first half,” said Flyers’ coach Mike Balestra. “We were moving the ball around in the middle and going wide with it as well.
“In the second half we did everything well but score it seemed. You have to give credit to West Carter’s defense and keeper. Our defense did a great job as well only giving up a goal late in the game. All in all, we got a good win tonight.”
The Flyers — now 7-2 on the season — got two goals from Tre Neal and one from Peyton Adkins. Isaac Whaley had two assists.
Bradley Rist had six saves and Izack Unger two saves as they shared goalkeepers duties for the Flyers.
Hunter Adams scored the Comets’ lone goal. Keeper Eric Barker had 15 saves.
St. Joseph had 29 shots on goal with nine corner kicks. The Flyers were called for six fouls.
West Carter had 14 shots and two corner kicks. They were called for two fouls.
The Flyers visit Fairland at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
