PROCTORVILLE — This one went down to the wire.
The St. Joseph Flyers and Fairland Dragons were locked in a scoreless tie until five minutes were left in their soccer game.
Each team scored a goal during those final minutes as the game ended in a 1-1 tie last Tuesday.
“Both teams played well. Both teams were battling until the last second,” said Flyers’ coach Mike Balestra.
Alex Naegele scored a goal with just under five minutes to play as Fairland went up 1-0.
But Isaac Whaley scored with a little more than a minute to play that tied the score.
Flyers’ goalkeeper Bradley Rist had five saves while the Dragons’ Alex Ward had 10.
St. Joseph (7-2-1) had 14 shots to eight for Fairland. The Flyers also had four corner kicks and the Dragons had one.
St. Joseph was called for five fouls and three offsides. Fairland had one foul and one offsides.
The Flyers host Rock Hill on Monday.
