Minnie French

Oct. 22, 1947 — Oct. 9, 2016

Minnie (Friend) French, 68, of Pedro, passed away early Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. She was born Oct. 22, 1947, in Pedro to the late Edward and Ella (Sharp) Friend.
Minnie is survived by her six children, Nancy (Jim) Downs, Eugenia (Roy) Murrell, Beth (Mark) Sizemore, Peggy (Jack) Moore, Brenda (Eric) Markel and Brian (Crystal) French. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; three brothers; three sisters; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Minnie is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Gene French; three brothers; and one sister.
Per her request, there will only be a public graveside service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Vernon Cemetery in Pedro. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis and Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillumfuneralhomes.com.

Danny Prince

Danny Ray Prince, 62, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. The Ironton native was born April 26, 1954, a son of the late Stairl and Beulah Mae Fout Prince. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Ann Prince, whom he married Jan. 15, 1974.
Mr. Prince attended Rock Hill High School and was a former maintenance worker for Ohio Center for Youth, where he worked for 20 years then went to work for Transitions, retiring after 10 years of service there. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing and was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Staril “David” Prince.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Danny Matthew (Kaylon Hummer) Prince, of Ashland, Kentucky, Mark Allen Prince and Christopher Luke Prince, both of Ironton; two daughters, Cindy Mae (Terry Lee) Gannon and Rachel Marie Prince, both of Ironton; nine grandchildren, Dannyella Prince, Abigail Prince, both of Ashland, Kentucky, Hope Ann Prince, Christopher James Crow, Ashley Gannon, Brandon Gannon, Chase Rawlins, Emily Gannon and Alexandra Richendollar, all of Ironton; five brothers, Richard Darrell (Connie) Prince, Donald William (Margaret) Prince, Dale (Beth) Prince, Dean (Sherry) Prince, all of Ironton, and Steven (Christy) Prince, of Kitts Hill; and three sisters, Debbie Young, of Grayson, Kentucky, Dreama (Curt) Fannin and Janice Prince, both of Ironton.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with Bro. Gary Arthurs officiating. Burial will follow in Haverhill Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ruth Howell

Ruth A. Howell, 93, of Ironton, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, at Hillview Retirement (Wesley Village) in Portsmouth. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Eric Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
