CINCINNATI (AP) — The Bengals waived cornerback Chris Lewis-Harris on Thursday and closed in on a deal with defensive end Wallace Gilberry, looking to upgrade a line that’s been underperforming.
Cincinnati (3-4-1) ranks 21st in scoring defense after giving up the second-fewest points in the league last season. Coordinator Paul Guenther said changes were coming during the bye week.
The Bengals let Gilberry leave as a free agent after last season. He signed with Detroit, played in four games and suffered an abdominal injury. He was waived with an injury settlement on Oct. 11.
Gilberry tweeted a photo of himself in a Bengals uniform on Thursday, along with: “No place like home.” A deal could be completed when the team returns next week.
