Day, McCormick ‘battle’ at state XC meet

HEBRON — Fairland’ Bryce Day and Rock Hill’s Brendon McCormick ran in different divisions at Saturday’s Ohio High School Athletic Association state cross country meet, and yet they still waged their ongoing battle.
Day ran a 16:31.4 in the Division II state meet at National Trail Raceway while McCormick ran a 16:32.4 time in the Division III meet.
Both seniors have signed to run next fall at Shawnee State University.
Day qualified as an individual and was No. 42 among 186 runners in the field that included 20 teams.
Woodridge won the meet with 71 points followed by Lexington with 106 and Rock River had 152.
McCormick was part of the Redmen team that qualified for the meet. He was No. 32 among the 186 runners.
Rock Hill finished with 349 points and was 16th in the 20-team field. Fort Loramie won with 97 points followed by Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas with 120 and Maplewood with 125.
Besides McCormick, Jasson Aguilera ran a 17:31.7 time, Ethan Miller 17:34.6, Victor Aguilera an 18:02.7, Eli Baker an 18:06.1, Logan Boggs 18:27.6 and Brady Floyd had an 18:42.3 clocking.
Victor Aguilera, Miller and Boggs are sophomores while Jasson Aguilera, Baker and Floyd are freshmen.
