SOUTH POINT — Casa Grande Mexican Restaurant will soon begin serving alcoholic drinks with meals, thanks to the passage of a ballot measure on Tuesday.

Owner Carlos Ortiz said he was appreciative of how the vote went.

“It feels great,” he said. “I just want to say thanks to so many in the community.”

He said Casa Grande will be the only restaurant between Ironton and Proctorville to serve alcohol. Any business seeking to do so will have to present their case to voters.

He is unsure on the specific timetable for when sales will begin.

“I have to contact my lawyer on that,” he said, stating that paperwork must be filed with the state upon passage of the ballot measure, and that the liquor inspector has to certify the staff.
