Now that many of the leftovers from Thanksgiving have been eaten and many have started their shopping in full force, so has the giving season for many schools, businesses and civic organizations.

We are very fortunate to have so many throughout Lawrence County who are willing to give their time and efforts to ensure those in need are able to have food, clothing and toys to make their holiday season a little brighter.

Some of these events include toy, bike and food giveaways, clothing drives and various dinners among other events between now at Christmas.

One of the brightest spots is that with each of these efforts from a variety of entities, each individual, group or organization are willing to work together to reach a common goal. And that is to help those in need to help make it the best holiday season possible.

We commend the efforts of all those who have worked tirelessly to help others.

We are so fortunate right here at home in Lawrence County to have so many who truly look to put others first.

This is a bond that we all share and should take pride in all year long.
