Herd tops Bobcats

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Jon Elmore scored 28 points and Ryan Taylor notched his 29th career double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds as Marshall defeated Ohio 98-88 Wednesday night.
The loss was the first for the Bobcats (4-1).
Stevie Browning added 16 points for Marshall (5-1), Austin Loop added 15 points and Ajdin Penava 10 for the Thundering Herd, which shot 48 percent (31 of 64) for the game, including 53 percent in the second half.
Loop, who made all his shots from long range, has back-to-back games with five 3-pointers for the second time in his career.
Antonio Campbell paced Ohio with 31 points and 16 rebounds, both season highs. Jordan Dartis added 16 points with four 3-pointers, Kenny Kaminski added 13 points and Jaaron Simmons 11 with seven assists.
Marshall led for 32 minutes and by as many as 16 points. The Herd was 25 of 33 at the free-throw line.
