John Bryant
John Paul Bryant, 62, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, at his home in Conway, Arkansas. John was born and raised in Ironton, where he met and married his first love and wife of 42 years, Kathy Bolden Bryant. There, they also raised two sons, Eric Bryant, of Little Rock, Arkansas, and the late Shawn Bryant. He was a graduate of Ohio University and spent 27 years in management for some of the top propane companies in the industry. His career led him and Kathy to spend several years in the Muskegon/Grand Haven, Michigan area. Upon retirement, they moved to Conway, Arkansas to be closer to his three beloved grandchildren.
John Paul is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Eric (Mandy); granddaughter, Brittany; grandsons, Anthony and Brody; and granddaughter, Charleigh Flanagan.
He is also survived by his sisters, Tammy Bolden (Don), Mary Ann Hunt and Kathy (Kitty) Smith; and his brothers, William and James Richard (Leesa).
He is preceded in death by his son, Shawn; mother, Gladys “Lucille;” father, Jack Jr.; and brothers, James “Jimmy” (Vietnam) and Gary.
His life was enriched by many relatives, friends and coworkers. He was a lifelong Baptist and an avid Buckeye Fan. He was a dedicated husband, father and Pappaw. A memorial service to honor the life of John will be 4:30 p.m. Friday at Gateway Baptist Church in Ironton.

Mary Johnson
Aug. 24, 1933 — Dec. 2, 2016

Mary Alice “Ricki” Johnson, 83, of South Point, passed away Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, at Oakmont Manor, Flatwoods, Kentucky. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. today at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Dr. Scott Mann officiating. Burial will follow at McSweeney Family Cemetery, South Point. Ricki was born Aug. 24, 1933, in Lillybrook, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Jessie Bryan and Carrie Lee Sutphin Burton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Burton and Clarence Burton; three sisters, Norma Kathleen Cole, Ann Marie Bowyer and Betty McDorman; and a great-grandson, Jacob Thacker.
She retired from the Chesapeake Kmart as a Softlines Manager and was a member of Solida Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Patsy Lynn (Joe) McSweeney and Kimberly (Harold “Bob”) Collins; a sister, Vivian Pugh; three grandchildren, Stacey (Jon) Thacker, Dwayne McSweeney and Joshua (Erin) Collins; a great-grandchild, Wyatt Thacker; and numerous other extended family members and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Oakmont Manor and Ashland Community Hospice for their exceptional care and love of our mother and visitors during her stay. Rose Hensley
April 28, 1936 — Dec. 1, 2016

Rose M. Hensley, 80, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at a local health care facility. The Coal Grove native was born April 28, 1936, a daughter of the late Clifford C. Hart and Laura Thacker Hart Barnes.
Rose was a 1954 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and was a former waitress for the VFW Post 8850. She was also a former employee of Faye’s Dry Cleaners, a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, the Eagles, the Moose, the AMVETs Auxiliary and a member of the City Mission Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Joyce Hart, Joann Stevens, Faye Butler and Mary Hayes; four brothers, Cosper Hart, Gerald “Bo” Frische, Fred Frische and Earl Hart; and her stepmother, Norella Hart.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Cox, of Decatur, and Rita (Richard) Darby, of Coal Grove; two sons, Michael Edward Hensley, of Peebles, and Ralph Eugene Hensley, of Coal Grove; two sisters, Margaret (Tom) Clegg, of Newburgh, New York, and Karen (Dennis) Dickess, of Coal Grove; a brother, Buddy Gene Frische, of Sandusky; two sisters-in-law, Esther Hart, of Franklin Furnace, and Clarabelle Frische, of Coal Grove; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and the visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at Tuesday the funeral home. Norman Myers
Norman L. Myers, 84, a proud 24-year U.S. Navy veteran and Ohio native, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016. Andrew Dolin
Jan. 27 1931 — Dec. 2, 1016

Andrew Jackson Dolin, 85, of South Point, received his Heavenly Reward and his “quiet moment to exchange worlds”, on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016. He was born Jan. 27, 1931 in Foster, West Virginia.
Reunited and preceding him in death were his loving wife of 60 years, Freeda June McClure Dolin; his parents, Martin W. and Nancy E. Doss Dolin; and his siblings, Clarence, Dennis, Bethel, Freeman and Mary Dolin. He is survived by his wife, Norah K. Meadows Dolin, of Barboursville, West Virginia, and his brother, Martin Dolin, of Foster, West Virginia. He leaves his Love and Blessings to his six children, Glen and Kay Jeffrey Dolin, of South Point, Steve and Sharon Triplett Dolin, of South Point, Maurice and Judy Svarda Dolin, of Middletown, Fred and Frances Dolin Lewis, of Kitts Hill, Terry and Patty Byrd Dolin, of South Point, all from Ohio, and Rick and Shirley Dolin Snider of Barboursville, West Virginia. Also surviving are his 18 grandchildren, Andrew, Candace, Jami, Amanda, Michael, Nathan, Kevin, Buddy, Laura, Jenafer, Alicia, Matthew, Johnathan, Ace, Terrina, Jennifer, Luke and Mark, and 25 great-grandchildren.
Daddy’s works were a testimony of his faithfulness and servanthood to GOD, as a member and deacon of the Kenova church of Christ. Among his testimonials, he served our Lord through witnessing, singing, praying, teaching and preaching the proclamation of the Risen Christ. Along his journey in life he embraced being a husband and father, “…in the way they should go…” (Prov. 22:16). He enjoyed carpentry, gardening, canning, quilting and quartet singing.
The family wishes to invite you to celebrate his life with them by attending his visitation Monday, Dec. 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point. His memorial service will be held the following afternoon, Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. at Kenova Church of Christ, 1801 Chestnut Street, Kenova, West Virginia. His grandson, Brad (Jami Dolin) Bennington, of Morehead, Kentucky, will be the speaker of his celebration. Benjamin Steele
Benjamin Michael Steele, 44, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Susanna Bailey Steele.

Linda M. Hoback, 76, of Chesapeake, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. She is survived by her husband, Gary Hoback.
