Female Flyers top Saints at St. Patrick Classic, 54-23

MAYSVILLE, Ky. — This time the St. Joseph Female Flyers had something to show for their work.
The Female Flyers shook off two losses to open the season by rolling past the the St. Patrick Saints in the semifinals of the St. Patrick Classic on Friday.
“It was good to get a win. We’ve played two really good teams and played hard. We played hard today and we were able to get the win,” said Female Flyers’ coach Nick Miller.
Morgan Turner had a game-high 13 points to lead a balanced offense for St. Joseph (1-2). She also had 8 steals and 5 assists.
The Female Flyers racked up 33 steals. Alyson Johnson had 8 points and 7 steals.
Lauren Bush had 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals, Megan Riley 6 rebounds, and Ashley Bartram had 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Riley had 5 points including a 3-pointer in the first quarter as the Female Flyers took a 13-6 lead.
Bartram and Turner had 4 points each in the second quarter and the defense limited the Saints to just 2 points to take a 25-8 halftime cushion.
Turner 7 points in the third quarter as St. Joseph extended its lead to 41-15.
St. Joseph played Whitesville Trinity in the championship game on Saturday.
