GALLIPOLIS — If coach Greg Damron was going to give out a game ball, he would need a bag full of them.
Damron wasn’t able to single out anyone after the Rock Hill Redwomen belted the Gallipolis Blue Angels 63-35 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
“It was a great team effort. A lot of kids played and all of them contributed. We did a great job on defense in the second half,” said Damron
“We held (Adrienne) Jenkins to three points in the second half.We had some kids step up and hit some shots. (Samantha) Stamper and (Caitlynn) Meadows both came off the bench and played well.”
Anna Darby — who is closing in on 1,000 career rebounds — posted another double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jill Hairston added 14 points, Kyleigh Noel scored a season-high 10 points, Maddie Scott grabbed 5 rebound and Caitlynn Meadows came off the bench and had 3 blocked shots.
Hairston and Noel were a combined 6-of-16 from behind the 3-point line.
Jenkins had 17 points for Gallipolis — 14 in the first half.
Gallipolis (2-2, 0-2) took a 13-8 first quarter lead but Darby got 4 points in the second quarter as Rock Hill rallied to take a 25-21 halftime lead.
Noel hit a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter as Rock Hill opened up a 43-26 lead.
Hairston knocked down a couple of triples in the fourth quarter as Rock Hill outscored Gallipolis 20-9 to get the easy win.
On Monday, Rock Hill hosts Chesapeake and Gallipolis visits Ironton in OVC games.
