GALLIPOLIS — OK, who shrunk the rim?
The St. Joseph Female Flyers shot a dismal 16 percent in a 31-28 loss to the Ohio Valley Christian Lady Defenders on Friday.
“It was just one of those nights when we just couldn’t make a basket,” said Female Flyers’ coach Nick Miller.
“We had good shots and shots we normally can make and we played well in all other areas of the game, we just couldn’t put the ball in the basket.”
The Female Flyers (3-3) had 34 rebounds including 21 on the offensive end but couldn’t convert.
Morgan Turner had 11 points, 3 assists and 4 steals for St. Joseph. Ashley Bartram grabbed 12 rebounds, Ashlee Blankenship 8 and Megan Riley 5.
Kaitlyn Sheridan added 7 points and 7 steals.
Rachel Sargent scored 18 points for OVC (1-4).
The Female Flyers fell behind 12-4 after the first quarter and 19-8 at the half as they shot a meager eight percent.

“Alyson Johnson has been out with a back injury and we’ve had to change our lineup and rotation and it has had an affect on us, but that wasn’t the difference in the game. Give credit to (Ohio Valley Christian). They played hard,” said Miller.
St. Joseph outscored OVC 20-12 in the second half but couldn’t overcome its shooting woes.
St. Joseph visits Fairview, Ky., at 6 p.m. n Friday.
