NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) — E. J. Crawford converted a 3-point play with 18 seconds left to allow Iona to hold off Ohio, 79-75 in a nonconference game Saturday.
Crawford took a feed from Sam Cassell Jr. and converted the layup, then added a free throw to give the Gaels a two-possession advantage. Ohio’s Kenny Kaminski missed two 3-point attempts in the final 11 seconds.
Jordan Washington scored a season-high 30 points on 13-of-18 shooting from the field to lead Iona (6-3) to its first home-court win of the season. Jan Svandrlik added 19 points off the bench and Crawford contributed 15 points.
Jaaron Simmons led the Bobcats (5-2) with 22 points, with Antonio Campbell adding another 16 points and grabbing nine rebounds.
The Gaels captured the Great Alaska Shootout and Cassell, a transfer from UConn, was tabbed Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
