PEDRO — The Chesapeake Lady Panthers believe that what happens on the road ought to be what happens at home.
Chesapeake is now 4-0 after beating the Rock Hill Redwomen 53-35 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday.
The Lady Panthers have won both home games this season and both road games.
“Defensively we guarded really well. Offensively we were kind of forcing stuff and shooting too fast,” said Lady Panthers’ coach Chris Ball. “But anytime you go on the road and get a win it is a good thing.”
Natalee Hall had a strong all-around game as she led the Lady Panthers with 22 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.
Dominique Murphy had 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists, Karli Davis 5 rebounds, Haley Stapelton 4 assists and Brooke Webb blocked 2 shots.
Rock Hill (3-2, 1-2) was led by Kyleigh Noel who had 12 points on four 3-pointers and Anna Darby with 10 points.
Hall scored 6 points in the first quarter to offset a pair of 3-pointers by Noel as Chesapeake took an 11-8 lead.
Hall and Davis scored 6 points each in the second quarter as the Lady Panthers extended their lead to 25-15 at the half.
Darby scored 4 points in the third quarter as Rock Hill cut the deficit to 35-26.
But Jozy Jones and Hall scored 6 points each in the fourth quarter and Chesapeake converted 10-of-10 at the foul line.
“Being able to hit those free throws was big. When teams put you on the line, you have to step up and make the shots and our girls did that which is a credit to them,” said Ball.
Chesapeake plays at Wayne, W.Va., at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in a varsity-only game and hosts Portsmouth on Thursday. Rock Hill visits Ironton next Monday.
