SOUTH POINT — The Fairland Lady Dragons emphatically remained in a tie for first place in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Fairland beat the South Point Lady Pointers 63-30 to stay unbeaten overall and in the OVC. The Lady Dragons are tied with Chesapeake for the league lead.
Alesha Simpson scored 15 points and Emily Chapman had 12 points on four 3-pointers as Fairland improved to 6-0 and 4-0.
The Lady Dragons jumped out to a 12-5 lead as Allie Marshall scored all 7 o f her points and Kelsie Warnock added a 3-point goal.
Chapman knocked down three triples in the second quarter and Simpson scored 5 points as Fairland outscored South Point 16-7 to take a 28-12 halftime lead.
The Lady Dragons continued to extend their lead as they outscored the Lady Pointers 15-5 in the third quarter and it was 43-17. Simpson scored 8 points and Chapman drained another 3-pointer.
Jackie Wagner and Bailey Roland combined for 10 points in the fourth quarter as Fairland continued to build on its lead.
Emilee Carey hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored all 10 of her points in the fourth quarter for South Point in the quarter.
The Lady Pointers (4-2, 2-2) were led by Carey’s 10 points. Emilee Whitt added 8 points.
South Point visits Wheelersburg on Monday and plays in the Chesapeake “Lady Peake Holiday Tournament” on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Fairland will play Cleveland Vill Angela-St. Joseph on Dec. 27 and Dayton Thurgood Marshall Dec. 28 at the Braggin Rights Classic.
