Blue Devils battle past Redmen

GALLIPOLIS — It took some 3’s to get No. 4.
Justin McClelland made four 3-point goals to give the unbeaten Gallipolis Blue Devils their fourth win as they posted a 57-48 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Rock Hill Redmen on Friday.
McClelland scored 16 points while Justin Peck had 14 points for the Blue Devils (4-0, 2-0) who had six triples overall.
Mason Darby and Tim Adkins had 14 points each for Rock Hill (1-4, 0-2).
McClelland drained three triples and Evan Wiseman added a fourth as Gallipolis took a 16-13 first quarter lead.
Darby scored 6 points and Adkins 5 points including a 3-pointer to keep the Redmen close.
Zach Loveday and Peck scored 4 points each in the second quarter as Gallipolis outscored the Redmen 13-5 to take a 29-18 halftime lead.
Peck had 6 more points in the third quarter while Darby and Brady Knipp scored 4 each for Rock Hill and it was 42-30.
Adkins hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points while Nate Malone had all 4 of his points in the fourth quarter as Rock Hill outscored the Blue Devils 18-15, but Gallipolis was able to convert 6-of-8 at the line and McClelland hit another 3-pointer to maintain the lead.
Rock Hill will visits Symmes Valley on Tuesday, Dec. 27. Gallipolis is at Jackson this Tuesday.
