The county has already spent over a million and a half dollars ignoring the Franklin Furnace Facility as the solution to the prisoner housing problem.
By not utilizing this facility, the county can expect to spend four to five million dollars more to transport and house prisoners out of county, assuming that a new jail can be financed, designed and built within five years.
I personally doubt that voters will support a new tax levy just to have a jail within county lines.
Lets stop this financial bleeding. Spend a million dollars now and activate the Franklin Furnace facility.
It does not take a mathematical genius to understand the problem and the solution.
