SCIOTOVILLE — The St. Joseph Female Flyers broke no laws, but they were still thwarted by the Dynamic Duo.
Payton Helpenstein and Shay Brown combined for 50 points as the Sciotoville East Lady Tartans beat the St. Joseph Female Flyers 52-38 on Wednesday.
Helpenstein finished with 30 points and Brown scored 20 for East.
“We knew we had to contain and control two players and we just didn’t do it,” said Female Flyers’ coach Nick Miller.
Kaitlyn Sheridan scored 6 points as St. Joseph took a 13-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the offense went cold with just 5 and 6 points in the next two quarters.
“We were playing well and then things just went the wrong way
East outscored St. Joseph 22-5 in the second quarter to lead 32-18 at the half and it was 45-24 after three quarters.
Morgan Turner had 8 points including a pair of 3-pointers while Ashley Bartram added 4 points in fourth quarter as the Female Flyers outscored East 14-7.
Turner finished with 12 points and 3 assists while Sheridan had 8 points, 3 assists and 3 steals.
Alyson Johnson and Lauren Bush grabbed 5 rebounds each with Grace Miller and Ashlee Blankenship pulled down 4 each.
St. Joseph travels to Rose Hill on Friday.
