WESTWOOD, Ky. — The St. Joseph Female Flyers just needed half the game to get a win.
St. Joseph scored 32 of its 44 points in the second and fourth quarters en route to a 44-34 win over the Fairview Lady Eagles on Monday.
“We haven’t had a chance to do much since last Thursday and we were a little sluggish. But we picked up our intensity and it made a difference,” said St. Joseph coach Nick Miller.
MacKenzie Humphrey scored 6 points in the first quarter as Fairview took an 8-4 lead.
But the Female Flyers outscored Fairview 15-7 in the second quarter as Ashley Bartram scored all 6 of her points to take a 19-15 halftime lead.
The lead went to 27-21 after three quarters and Morgan Turner and Alyson Johnson got 6 points each in the fourth quarter for St. Joseph.
Turner finished with 16 points, 3 steals and 4 rebounds for the Female Flyers (5-7). Megan Riley and Lauren Bush got 6 rebounds each while Kaitlyn Sheridan had 4 assists and 3 steals.
Humphrey and Jordan Rakes scored 11 points each to lead Fairview (6-7).
St. Joseph visits Portsmouth Notre Dame on Wednesday.
