GALLIPOLIS — The Gallipolis Blue Devils scored the final seven points of the game as they edged the South Point Pointers 66-60 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Tuesday.
The game was close throughout with South Point leading 60-59 with a minute to play when the Blue Devils put together their strong finish.
South Point (6-3, 2-2) was led by Tayshaun Fox with 19 points and Jared White hit four 3-pointers as he scored 16 points.
Justin McClelland had 17 points to lead Gallipolis (7-1, 3-1). Justin Peck scored 13, Evan Wiseman 12 and Zach Loveday 11 as four Blue Devils hit double figures.
The Blue Devils hit three 3-pointers to take an 18-16 first quarter lead. Fox and Whitt combined for 11 points in the quarter.
Douglas Shaffer and Fox each hit 3-pointers as South Point got within 27-26 at the half.
Peck scored eight points as Gallipolis took a 43-41 lead. Whitt hit two more 3-pointers and scored eight points.
Shaffer, Whitt, Fox and Elijah Adams all hit 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as South Point took a 60-59 lead.
Wiseman and Loveday scored six points each and McClelland had five points for the Blue Devils in the fourth quarter.
In league games on Friday, South Point hosts Ironton while Gallipolis entertains Fairland.
