ASHLAND, Ky. — Morgan Turner took care of the drama early and the St. Joseph Female Flyers did the same with the Rose Hill Lady Royals.
Turner scored 22 points and reached the 1,000-career point plateau in the process as the Female Flyers beat the Lady Royals 55-30 on Thursday.
“I’m happy for Morgan. She joins four other pretty good players,” said Female Flyers’ coach Nick Miller. “She reached a pretty good milestone for anyone.”
Besides Turner, Ashlee Blankenship had 10 points for the Female Flyers (6-8). Megan Riley got 11 points and five rebounds.
Kaitlyn Sheridan had five assists and three steals while Turner came up with seven steals.
Sarah Sizemore scored 10 points for Rose Hill (3-10).
Turner scored seven points, Blankenship six and Riley five in the first quarter as St. Joseph took a 20-8 lead.
Turner scored seven more points in the second quarter as she reached the scoring milestone and the lead was 33-14 at the half.
The Female Flyers led 42-25 after three quarters and Turner scored eight more points to cap off the win.
St. Joseph hosts Trimble at noon on Saturday.
