SOUTH POINT — One man is dead, following a domestic dispute in South Point on Saturday afternoon.
Deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at a residence at 107 County Road 407 at about 3:35 p.m., according to a news release.
Upon arriving, deputies said they saw a truck parked in the northbound lane of County Road 407 in front of the residence, with the engine running, and the driver in the vehicle.
They were advised by a woman at the residence that she had been in a dispute with the driver of the vehicle prior to their arrival, deputies said.
The dispute between the two moved to the inside of the truck, and a family friend intervened and fired shots inside the truck, hitting the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.
The family friend was then taken into custody, the sheriff’s office said.
The investigation is in its early stages and no names are being released at this time.
