SOUTH POINT — The Fairland Dragons have way too many scoring options.
The South Point Pointers might have felt good that Isaiah Howell had just nine points, but that didn’t slow the Dragons’ offense.
Gunner Short, Keedrick Cunningham and Luke Thomas combined for 50 points as the Dragons beat the Pointers 79-48 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Tuesday.
Short had 20 points, seven rebounds and two assists for the Dragons (12-1, 6-0). Cunningham scored 16 points while Thomas added 14.
Howell still had 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals and Ty state  had five assists and six rebounds.
South Point (7-4, 3-3) was led by Tayshaun Fox with nine points and Elijah Adams with eight.
Cunningham and Short scored seven points each in the first quarter as Fairland took a 26-21 lead.
Fox, Jared Whitt and Douglas Shaffer all hit 3-pointers and Logan Wade scored four points in the first quarter to keep the Pointers close.
The scoring slowed in the second quarter as Fairland went up 33-24 at the half.
Fairland outscored South Point 24-17 in the third quarter as Short got seven points while Howell had five and Dairus Stapleton came off the bench to give five more including a 3-point goal to make it 57-41.
Cody Runyon had all five of his points in the quarter for South Point.
The Dragons held South Point to just seven points in the fourth quarter and Cunningham had six more points as the lead continued to grow.
On Friday, Fairland is at Chesapeake and South Point visits Rock Hill.
