CHESAPEAKE — This one was over almost before it started.
The Chesapeake Lady Panthers jumped out to a big first quarter as they held Gallipolis scoreless en route to a 56-33 Ohio Valley Conference win on Thursday.
“We jumped on them early and got a big lead and then just tried to play good defense,” said Chesapeake coach Chris Ball.
“Karli Davis had a nice all-around game and I thought we had a pretty good team effort.”
Chesapeake stormed out to a 15-0 first quarter lead as Davis scored five points.
The lead was 18-0 before Gallipolis scored in the second quarter.
Chesapeake led 26-11 at the half as each team scored 11 points in the second quarter. Carly Shriver hit three 3-point goals in the quarter for Gallipolis.
Natalee Hall scored eight points and Davis got five more in the third quarter as Chesapeake extended its lead to 41-20.
Hall had six points and Dominique Murphy four as the Lady Panthers outscored the Blue Angels 15-13 in the fourth quarter.
Hall scored 18 points to go with seven rebounds, four assists and three steals to lead the Lady Panthers (9-3, 5-3).
Davis had 10 points and seven rebounds while Murphy scored 11 points. Brooke Webb had four steals and three assists and Shia Ervin had four steals.
Shriver scored 13 points to lead Gallipolis.
Chesapeake plays at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Greenup County, Ky.
