CHESAPEAKE — There’s a reason the Fairland Dragons score a lot of points. They take a lot of shots.
And make them.
Fairland was 33-of-74 from the field in rolling to an 89-23 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Chesapeake Panthers on Friday.
The Dragons were 20-of-37 from 2-point range for 54 percent and connected on 13-of-37 3-point shots for 35 percent.
Gunner Short scored a game-high 22 points as Fairland remained unbeaten in the OVC.
Luke Thomas had 21 points, 10 rebounds and six assists while Isaiah Howell got 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Dragons (13-1, 7-0). Ty Staten had 10 rebounds, six steals and five assists.
Fairland led 16-4 after the first quarter and then Short scored 11 points including three 3-points in the second quarter as the lead grew to 37-7 at the half.
Thomas matched Short by scoring 11 points in the third quarter as Fairland outscored the Panthers 31-10 to put the game out of reach at 68-16.
Casey McComas scored five points for the Panthers (3-9, 1-6).
On Tuesday, Chesapeake hosts Gallipolis and Fairland entertains Rock Hill.
