Flyers fall to Rams

RACELAND, Ky. — The game turned quick and it would never turn back.
The St. Joseph Flyers had a first half lead when Raceland hit some key 3-pointers to get the lead and keep it as the Rams pulled away to a 56-43 win on Friday.
St. Joseph was lead 18-12 when Raceland hit four 3-pointers — three by Trey Mills and one by Austin Bays — to help the Rams take a 24-18 halftime lead.
“We controlled most of the first half and then they hit four 3’s to get the lead and they never gave it up,” said St. Joseph coach Rex Cooksey.
“We didn’t have any legs. We’ve had some sickness and a nine-day layoff. But Raceland has improved and they hit some shots. They have some shooters.”
Chase Walters scored 10 points and Zac McGraw and Zach Roach nine each to lead the Flyers (6-8).
Travis Weaver hit three 3-pointers and scored 17 points, Riley Potter had 15 points and Mills 11 to lead Raceland (6-14).
McGraw and Walters scored four each in the first quarter to give the Flyers an 8-7 lead. Weaver got five of the Rams’ points.
Adkins and McGraw each hit 3-pointers as the Flyers took the 18-12 lead only to had the Rams rally.
Weaver hit a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter as Raceland extended its lead to 36-27. Clay Willis and Walters combined for St. Joseph’s points.
Roach hit all three of his 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, but Potter scored six points to help the Rams pull away.
St. Joseph played at Northwest on Saturday and hosts Ohio Valley Christian on Monday.
