WILLOW WOOD — A lot can happen in 13 days.
Just 13 days ago the Symmes Valley Vikings lost 54-49 at New Boston. On Friday, the Vikings crushed the Tigers 91-51 in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
In this meeting, the Vikings had Sam Angelo and Jordan Lucas who did not play in the previous game.
“They came out and played really well. Both teams hit a lot of shots the first quarter, but then they started to settle down and we kept going,” said Vikings’ coach Donnie Saunders.
“It was one of those games we needed. Hopefully we can keep it going.”
Two players who really got going were Sam Angelo and Jordan Lucas who combined for 58 points. Angelo hit five 3-pointers and scored 35 points while Lucas scored 23 points with three triples.
Jarod Sheppard added 12 points for the Vikings (6-9, 3-7).
Kyle McQuithy scored 19 points and Kade Conley 17 for New Boston.
Angelo scored 11 points with two 3’s, Lucas hit three triples, Sheppard had five points with a 3-pointer and Chayden Renfroe added a 3-pointer as the Vikings outscored the Tigers 28-22 in the first quarter.
McQuithy scored eight points, Conley had six and Tyler Caldwell five for New Boston.
Angelo scored 10 more points in the second quarter, Lucas got seven points and Sheppard got five points including a trifecta as the Vikings opened up a 51-32 halftime cushion.
McQuithy hit a pair of 3-pointers in the quarter for New Boston.
Angelo hit a 3-pointer and scored 11 more points while Payton Hayes got eight of his nine points in the third quarter and it was 77-43.
The Vikings had just 13 turnovers and New Boston 10.
Symmes Valley visits Western on Tuesday.
