Ronald Gene Bruce
Nov. 20, 1951 — Jan. 27, 2017

Ronald Gene Bruce, 65, of Rome, Georgia, formerly of Ohio Furnace, passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2017 at his residence.
Ronald was born Nov. 20, 1951, the son of Erma Jean Gollihugh Bruce of Ironton, Ohio and the late Jerry Paul Bruce.
Ronald attended Green High School and was a United States Navy Veteran. He was a self-employed carpenter and of the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Paul Bruce.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Cindy, Shane, Adam, Gina, Desirae, Heather and Dana; two brothers, Sonny, of Georgia, and Mike (Jean), of Ironton; one sister, Carol, of Ironton; and a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South 7th Street in Ironton. Burial will follow in Buckeye Cemetery. Friends and family may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Phillips Funeral Home to help with expenses incurred.
Marlene Metcalf
Aug. 10, 1937 — Jan. 31, 2017
Marlene L. Metcalf, 79, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017 at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
The Crooksville, Ohio native was born Aug. 10, 1937, a daughter of the late Abraham and Mary Yaness Bigham. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Metcalf, who passed away in 1986.
Mrs. Metcalf was a graduate of Glenn Ford High School and a former deli worker for Bartram and Tipton supermarkets. She was of the Christian faith.
She is survived by a daughter, Debbie Osborne, of Ironton; three sons, Jim (Tammy) Raney, of Ashland, Kentucky; Jeff (Kim) Raney, of Ironton; and Master Sgt. Todd (Michelle) Metcalf, of Hill Air Force Base, Utah; two sisters, Patricia Haught, of Zanesville, and Louise Satterfield of Heath, Ohio; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, with Pastor Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m until the time of the service at the funeral home. Billy Shockley
Billy Ray Shockley, 64, of Chesapeake, died Monday, January 23, 2017 at home. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sue Thacker Shockley. Funeral service will be conducted at noon Saturday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, with Pastor Darrell Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller, Ohio. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
