Lady Oaks escapes Chesy girls

The Chesapeake Lady Panthers stayed right with favored Oak Hill during Saturday’s Tackett’s Body Shop Shootout before the Lady Oaks escaped in the fourth quarter with a 44-40 win.
The game was tied 9-9 after the first quarter. Dominique Murphy had four points and Karli Davis hit a 3-pointer for Chesapeake.
The Lady Panthers went up 16-14 at the half as they outscored the Lady Oaks 7-5.
Brianna Blanton scored seven points and Caitlyn Bricker had five as the Lady Oaks tied the game at 30 to end the third quarter. Natalee Hall had all six of her points in the quarter.
Jalea Caldwell scored eight points in the fourth quarter including 6-of-8 from the foul line and Brianna Blanton had a pair of free throws as the Lady Oaks offset Chesapeake’s 10-of-16 shooting from the foul line in the quarter.
Chesapeake (13-7) was led by Jozy Jones with 11 points. Murphy added eight points and both Brooke Webb and Hall had six points each.
Blanton had 12 points for Oak Hill (16-3) while Bethany Blanton scored 11 and Caldwell added 10.
Chesapeake hosts Coal Grove on Tuesday.
