PEDRO — It has been an injury-riddled season for the Rock Hill Redwomen, but they were feeling just fine on senior night.
Led by seniors Anna Darby, Jill Hairston and Caitlynn Meadows, the Redwomen downed the St. Joseph Female Flyers 49-23 on Wednesday.
Darby and Maddie Scott scored 13 points each for the Redwomen. Lucy Simpson added nine points.
St. Joseph struggled through one of its worst shooting nights of the season. The Female Flyers were just 8-of-48 from the field for 17 percent and a meager 2-of-20 from behind the 3-point line.
“We just had a dismal shooting night,” said St. Joseph coach Nick Miller.
“We had some decent shots and got some turnovers but we didn’t convert. But give Rock Hill credit. They played hard and they did a nice job.”
Rock Hill scored eight straight points to start the game with Scott and Darby combining for 11 points and it was 16-3. Grace Miller’s 3-pointer accounted for the Female Flyers’ scoring.
Darby got six points in the second quarter and the Redwomen led 26-12 at the half.
Both teams struggled to score in the third quarter with Rock Hill going up 34-18.
Scott had four points in the fourth quarter as Rock Hill outscored St. Joseph 15-5. Ashley Bartram had four points for the Female Flyers.
St. Joseph (10-12) got seven points from Morgan Turner while Megan Riley and Miller had five each.
Turner also had four steals and Ashlee Blankenship three. Alyson Johnson and Bartram grabbed five rebounds each.
Rock Hill is at South Point on Thursday in the regular season finale and then faces Northwest next Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. in the sectional tournament at Lucasville Valley.
St. Joseph plays Trimble at 7 p.m. on Monday at Meigs High School in the sectional tournament.
