LUCASVILLE — Taking care of the ball helped the Rock Hill Redwomen take care of business.
Committing just four turnovers in the second half, the Redwomen pulled away to a 54-39 win over the Northwest Lady Mohawks on Wednesday in the Division III sectional semifinals.
Rock Hill had 14 turnovers for the game but 10 came in the first half.
“We did a better job taking care of the ball tonight. That was the difference in the game,” said Rock Hill coach Greg Damron.
“Our young kids are getting better and stepping up. We rebounded well and our bench did a good job. I went to the bench a lot.”
Anna Darby scored 12 points — all in the second half — to pace Rock Hill. Lucy Simpson had 10 points and six rebounds, Jill Hairston also scored 10 points, Maddie Scott grabbed seven rebounds and Sam Stamper had four.
Shae Patty scored 12 points and Hannah Breech 11 for Northwest.
Rock Hill (7-16) will play Eastern Brown at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the sectional finals.
Hairston got six points in the first quarter as Rock Hill took a 12-2 lead.
Each team had eight points in the second quarter and it was 20-10 at the half.
Northwest used eight points each by Patty and Breech to outscore Rock Hill 18-16 in the third quarter and trail 36-28. Darby scored six points.
Darby came back with six points in the fourth quarter as Rock Hill extended its lead.
