Pauline Butler

Dec. 27, 1938 — Feb. 19, 2017

Pauline C. Butler 78, of Ironton, loving wife and mother, departed this life from her home on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, and is now in her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born a daughter of the late Rufus and Pearl (Matthews) Yates on Dec. 27, 1938, in Columbus.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years and 10 months, Phillip Gene Butler, of Ironton, whom she married April 5, 1957.
She was saved in September 1974 and then baptized into the fellowship of the Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church in October 1974 by pastor Homer Webb. As a faithful member of the Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church, she counted it a privilege to take care of the babies in the nursery department for 40 years until her health failed. She also worked with the Ladies Helping Hands group for a number of years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first son, Richard (Rick) Butler; and brothers, Rufus (Junior) Yates, William Yates and Wetzel Yates.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by son, Tim Butler, of Ironton; granddaughters, Desiree Butler and Brittany Hamilton, both of Ironton, Rikki Butler, of Elkins West Virginia, and Baleigh Butler, of Ironton; great-granddaughter, Bryleigh Hamilton, of Ironton; great-grandsons, Camryn Large, of Ironton, and Brock Curtis, of Elkins, West Virginia.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral home, Ironton, with pastor Todd Warner officiating. Burial will follow in Lodge Cemetery. William Kingery

William Leslie Kingery, 96, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Lawrence County native was born Sept. 15, 1920, the son of the late Dennis and Virgie Blair Kingery. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lona V. Keeney Kingery, who passed away March 16, 2009.
Mr. Kingery attended Andis School and was a former employee for the Lawrence County Engineer’s Office, retiring in 1979 after 32 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and lived his entire life in Lawrence County.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom Kingery and Roscoe Kingery; and three sisters, Nellie Stapleton, Lissie Cochran and Ella Cochran.
He is survived by a daughter, Virginia Vansant, of Ironton; a son, James L. (Becky) Kingery, of Kitts Hill; a sister, Rosie Arthurs, of Jackson; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ruth Boster Kitchen, 75, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at home. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

 

Faye Blankenship

Aug. 25, 1935 — Feb. 21, 2017

Faye Loraine Webb Blankenship, 81, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at the Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Kentucky. The Ironton native was born Aug. 25, 1935, a daughter of the late Wade and Elizabeth McFadden Webb Warren.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, David M. Blankenship, whom she married April 17, 1982.
Faye was a 1953 graduate of Ironton High School, and attended Ashland Community College and Ohio University before receiving her Bachelor’s Degree from The Ohio State University.
Faye was a licensed social worker for the Lawrence County Department of Human Services for 33 years until her retirement in 1989. She later went back to her social work and helped Mended Reeds for several years. She was a member of the Haverhill United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Haverhill Methodist Women’s Club. In 1968, she received the Lawrence County Citizen of the Year Award, and was very active with the National Arthritis Foundation, Andrew’s Buddies and the United Way.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Zack Warren; three sisters, Doris (Ralph) Thompson, Marge (Curt) Gollihugh and Frances (Lowell “Odie”) Justice; and a sister-in-law, Kitsy Warren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Susan (Frank) Arthurs, of Hanging Rock; two grandsons, Jeffrey Crabtree, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Joseph Crabtree, of Hanging Rock; four great-grandchildren, Trae Crabtree, of Hanging Rock, Colt Crabtree, of Kitts Hill, Laynee Crabtree, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, and Lennon Crabtree, of Ironton; a brother, Gene Warren, of Lexington, Kentucky; three nieces, Beverly (Jim) Heflinger, of Columbus, and Beth (Bill) Lutz and Margie O’Leary, both of Ironton; and and several great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Bob Morrow and the Rev. Mike Musser officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Mary Lou Sands

Mary Lou Norris Sands, 89, of South Point, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at her residence.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with pastor Terry Jones officiating.
Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Clara Crabtree

Clara M. Crabtree, 81, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at home. She is survived by her husband, Dallas Crabtree.
