Brenda Hosey

June 30, 1940 — Feb. 25, 2017

Brenda G Derifield Hosey, 76, of Pedro Ohio passed away Saturday February 25, 2017, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. The Ironton, Ohio native was born June 30, 1940, a daughter of the late Clifford Derifield and Pauline Williams Shope.
Mrs. Derifield was a 1958 graduate of Ironton High School. She also went to Shawnee State University and Ohio University for her RN/BSN. Brenda was a former nurse at SOMC and then went on to teach nursing school at former Scioto Joint Vocational School, and most recently loved and enjoyed substitute teaching at Rock Hill School District.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Lee Hosey Sr.; her daughters: Kimberlee Gail Hosey and Lisa Lee Hosey; her son: Gary Lee Hosey Jr., and her sisters Lois Hopper and Linda Meeks
She was survived by her son and daughter-in-law Jason and Chelsea Hosey, of Pedro; her brother: Michael Derifield Hosey, of Valdez, Alaska; four grandchildren, Garrett Hosey, Abigail Hosey, Elijah Payne and Jesse Hosey; sisters-in-law, Joan (Ed) Hileman, Melody (Ed) Knapp, Lila Hosey, and Lois Hosey; brother-in-law, Timothy (Francis) Hosey; and by multiple nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Steve Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery and visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

Charlene A. Townsend

Charlene A. Townsend 67, of Flatwoods passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Mrs. Townsend was born May 26, 1949 in Portland, Oregon, a daughter of the late Herbert and Vilma Robello-Dailey.
Charlene was a member of the Temple Baptist Church who loved to talk to others about her faith, and never met a stranger. She was an artistic woman who enjoyed quilting, making ceramic pieces, and practicing needlepoint. Most of all, Charlene loved her family and cherished the time spent with them on family vacations. Her grandchildren brought joy to her life that was irreplaceable and she has left a mark on them that they will carry forever.
Surviving is her husband of 40 years and the love of her life, John Townsend; daughters, Amanda Bennett and Kristi (Scott) Sweeney; son, David (Laura) Hill II; brothers, Herb Dailey and Todd Dailey; sister, Laura Dailey; grandchildren, Ryan Hill, Taylor Sweeney, and Isaac Bennett; and Charles (Mary) Baker.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods with pastor Jim Pridemore officiating. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park in Huntington.

Carolyn S. Myers

Carolyn S. Myers, 62, of Chesapeake, died Monday, February 27, 2017, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. She is survived by her husband, James Myers. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Centenary Cemetery, Chesapeake. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.
