Fairland youth wrestling club 3rd at state meet

PROCTORVILLE — John Cena, you might want to take a few notes.
The Fairland youth wrestling is enjoying some big success that includes a third place finish at the Ohio Novice State Tournament held Feb. 26 at the Toledo Seagate Center.
The team racked up 180 points to take third place among 193 teams from across the state.
Kyle Salyer and Shad Henry led the way as both finished first in their weight class. Jayden Ball was second, Steven Perego took third place, Timothy Webb was fourth while Josh Cyrus, Zachary Burdine and Christian Hardy all placed fifth.
The team continues its season with Ciara Neff heading to the OH-Way all-girls state championship.
The OAC championships will be held in Youngstown on March 26 and club members who have qualified for the tournament are Zachary Burdine, Jayden Ball, Christian Hardy, Steven Rhodes, Jarod Neff and Ashtyn Lusk.
Alternates for the OAC championships are Steven Perego, Kyle Salyer, Carson Brammer and Maddox Ottaviano.
The team finishes its season at the Mason County Championship on March 31 and April 1.
The wrestling team is comprised of youths from the Proctorville and South Point areas.
