Pointers suffer first loss

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — It took a strong pitching performance to stop the South Point Pointers.
Lenny Washington pitched a three-hitter, struck out eight and walked two as the St. Joseph Fighting Irish won their opener by handing the Pointers their first loss of the season, 3-1.
Jonathan Henline went five innings for the Pointers and struck out five, walked three while giving up three runs and three hits. Tanner Hall worked one inning with a strikeout, walk and hit.
The Pointers (4-1) three hits came from Tanner Hall who went 1-2, Travis Dillon was 1-3 and Brody Blackwell 1-1 with a double.
South Point hosts Chesapeake on Friday.
