Webb, Ross trigger Lady Vikings’ win

FRANKLIN FURNACE — It was power up time for the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings, and they didn’t mean their computers.
The Lady Vikings pounded out 17 hits including four doubles and a home run en route to a 19-6 Southern Ohio Conference win over the Green Lady Bobcats on Wednesday.
The Lady Vikings (2-2, 1-0) were led by Taylor Webb and Sierra Ross. Webb went 3-for-4 with a grand slam home run while Ross was 3-4 with three doubles and six runs batted in.
Hannah Gates also had a double while Sarah Kingery and Hailee Littlejohn each went 2-2.
The Lady Vikings scored 10 run in the first inning highlight by Webb’s grand slam home run. Ross and Gates each doubled home a pair of runs in the uprising.
In the third inning, Symmes Valley scored five more runs as Ross doubled in another run and Mandi Ball singled in a pair of runs.
The Lady Vikings’ four-run fifth inning was keyed by Ross who doubled in three runs.
Kara Saunders got the win as she struck out two and walked one.
Symmes Valley hosts Green on Friday.
